Over 400 attendees gained valuable insights into the world of automation at novoinsight 2024. The growing use of AI is rapidly transforming nearly every economic, social, and especially technological sector. Artificial intelligence has become a game changer, ushering in the age of automation on multiple levels.
“Experts believe that we might actually see an ASI, artificial super intelligence, before 2060,” said novomind CEO Stefan Grieben, setting the stage in his opening speech: A super intelligence that acts much smarter than humans, something that has so far only existed in science fiction. To ensure humans remain in control, Grieben also emphasised the importance of the EU AI Act, which represents Europe’s commitment to upholding the fundamental values and rules, even as we place trust in the development of artificial intelligence. This set the range of topics at this year’s novoinsight.
The 19th novoinsight event at the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg on 14 November focused on the targeted use of AI in the age of automation. Once again, novomind’s own chatbot, Nomi, confidently co-hosted the event, this time supported by a second chatbot, Norman. The Keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Sabina Jeschke, a former Board member of Deutsche Bahn responsible for digitalisation and technology and now the CEO of KI Park, is an experienced manager, founder and scientist. She traced the journey of artificial intelligence from its conceptual beginnings a century ago (!) to its current state and future prospects. The disruptive changes along this path have been numerous, varied, and increasingly significant: from the rapid evolution of mobile phone generations to the fourth industrial revolution with the Internet of Things (IoT), culminating in the “iPhone moment” of AI with the breakthrough of ChatGPT in 2022. So, where are we headed next? According to Sabina Jeschke, the upcoming milestone is the “Q phone moment” – the breakthrough of quantum computing, which promises to be a revolutionary technological leap with immense potential for global change in sustainability and energy efficiency.
novomind also continues to be successful internationally and was able to report ongoing market developments in Asia and the MEA region. Jessie Hoong, Managing Director of the novomind subsidiary in Singapore, and Hossam Amer, CEO of the novomind subsidiary in Dubai, informed the audience about the development of automated customer service solutions for the healthcare, banking, and telecommunications sectors, which are in high demand in both markets.
A recent McKinsey study on the fastest growing industries of the future lists e-commerce, AI software and cloud services as the top 3 areas. “That’s our field of expertise,” said a delighted Markus Rohmeyer, CPO of novomind. Indeed, novomind’s portfolio caters precisely to these forward-looking industries, as novoinsight has once again demonstrated. This is exactly what novomind’s annual event is all about: providing a technological showcase and first-hand field reports from the developers themselves, but above all, from the perspective of the many customers from different industries. From the pros and cons of the hype topic of composable commerce to the variant of modular commerce (composable eco-system) favoured by novomind, to the role of generative AI enablers in modern customer service, everything was discussed and presented through numerous practical examples.
