EU eco-audit complements existing ISO 14001 certificate for corporate responsibility for the environment and the climate
Hamburg, 25 October 2023 – novomind AG, the software development company headquartered in Hamburg, is now certified to EMAS, underlining its commitment to climate protection and the environmental. EMAS stands for the “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme” developed by the European Union. The so-called EU eco-audit covers all the requirements of the globally recognised ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems, to which novomind was also certified in 2023.
EMAS focuses on the continuous improvement of environmental performance. The aim is to make the company’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment and the climate measurable and transparent, and to optimise them further. As a software manufacturer, novomind focuses on saving energy and conserving resources.
“Sustainable corporate governance is very important to us,” says Stan Carstensen, COO Digital Commerce at novomind. “Ever since the company was founded, we have been thinking and acting for the long term, and we want to minimise the negative impact of our actions on people, the climate and the environment, and promote positive environmental effects. The EMAS certificate and the ISO 14001 certification are real milestones in this journey.” To date, only a few software manufacturers in Germany have been EMAS-certified. “We made a conscious decision to do so because we want to be a pioneer in this area,” says Carstensen.
Sustainable corporate governance is an integral part of novomind’s corporate philosophy. novomind AG has now summarised the basic principles and standards of behaviour in the context of its social, economic and ecological responsibility in an updated version of its Code of Conduct.
