bike-components selects novomind to optimise product data quality for a strong customer experience

Tailwind through automation: leading European online retailer of bicycle parts and accessories relies on novomind iPIM for efficiency and a first-class shopping experience

From the smallest screw to complete bicycles – www.bike-components.de is one of Europe’s leading retailers of bicycle parts and accessories, offering over 65,000 products and more than 300 brands. A new system landscape is giving a boost to bc GmbH’s online shop. The central product information management (PIM) system being used is novomind iPIM from the software company novomind AG.

novomind’s PIM system centralises all product data and leverages artificial intelligence (AI) for efficient, automated processing. This reduces maintenance effort and ensures data consistency across all systems and interfaces, saving both time and resources. In addition, the online shopping experience is enhanced through product information and descriptions that are constantly updated across all channels.

Central PIM system and AI-based text generation minimise effort

Before the new system was introduced, the product data had to be updated with two separate data exports per day. With novomind iPIM, near real-time data exchange is now possible. novomind’s intelligent data onboarding module, iPIM Supply, automatically imports product data supplied by various manufacturers and suppliers, forwarding it to the ERP, warehouse management system (WMS), and other systems and channels. novomind iPIM ensures workflow-controlled processes. Product information is continually mapped into bike-components’ data model and distributed. Hardly any manual processing is required either before or after, resulting in a minimal error rate. novomind iPIM also uses AI to generate product texts in four languages. This level of automation guarantees maximum efficiency and supports an outstanding shopping experience.

PIM-first approach contributed to successful multi-system integration

The multi-system integration at bike-components involved introducing a new PIM, ERP, WMS and merchandise management system in parallel with other backend systems. A PIM-first approach, together with a high degree of automation in product data import and management through novomind iPIM, played a key role in the rapid implementation of the integration process. The system migration was completed smoothly, and the entire backend system landscape was replaced in less than twelve months.

novomind’s omnichannel system also increases efficiency in customer service

bike-components has been using the omnichannel software novomind iAGENT in customer service since 2018. This contact center system enables the automatic, intelligent routing of all customer enquiries received by e-mail to the bicycle experts in the service team. It has helped to reduce response times and allowed the customer service team to manage capacity efficiently. For instance, text modules and each customer’s contact history support service staff in handling enquiries effectively.
