Quick product search in the retail store – novomind develops indoor navigation app for MediaMarkt pilot project in Hesse

At the local MediaMarkt store, customers can use the app on their smartphone to be guided precisely to the desired product and thus benefit from a faster and easier product search. At the same time, this relieves the strain on sales staff, who thus have more time for personal consultations. The app also supports employees in stocktaking and processing picking lists for Click & Collect orders from the online shop.

Developed by novomind, the MediaMarkt app combines a whole range of innovative technologies.Tthe basis is the “Visible Light Communication” (VLC) technology from project partner Signify, which allows the desired products to be localized with an accuracy of up to 30 centimeters; it is complemented by software from Qopius, a retail tech hub start-up, and digital price tags from MediaMarkt. novomind has pooled all technology features in the app and attached great importance to maximum user friendliness. The simple operation and the special design even make it fun to search and find the right products. The app is available for both iOS and Android.

The German pilot project in Gründau-Lieblos, which allows novomind to build on its many years of experience in app development, will initially last several months.
