Central platform for B2B and B2C business / PIM and shop system from a single source / Ten times faster updating of product prices, availabilities and stocks for all e-commerce channels
Hamburg, 31st May 2023 – As part of its digitalisation strategy, HolzLand GmbH, one of the largest associations of timber wholesalers and retailers in Europe, is now offering its members and customers a joint online platform for B2B and B2C commerce. The latter is based on a software architecture from novomind AG, which has been supporting HolzLand with its products and services as a technology partner for many years. The former B2C online marketplace www.holzland.de has now been expanded to include the HolzLand B2B marketplace, making it the largest digital marketplace for timber merchants in Germany. The HolzLand network of timber merchants comprises more than 450 locations of timber wholesalers and retailers of different types and sizes: from pure timber wholesalers for professional customers to timber shops for end customers.
“The new central platform maximises synergies. Migrating the B2B marketplace to our B2C platform has given our members and B2B customers optimised usability as well as fast data imports and updates for all e-commerce channels. As usual, novomind has reliably supported us during the implementation with expert advice and customised solutions,” says Christian Haltermann, Head of HolzLand’s Digital Services Department. For ten years, HolzLand has already been using novomind’s modular iPIM solution as a central product information management system for all sales channels, which is suited for companies and associations with highly complex product and customer information.
The central online platform for HolzLand members, merchant shops and end customers is based on the novomind iSHOP system, which allows different back-end settings for all customer groups. This has simplified trading among HolzLand members as well as sales to end customers. When shopping online, consumers can see the availability of the products at the respective locations. This is made possible by the price stock service (PSS) included in novomind’s shop system, which ensures the real-time transmission of customer-specific prices, availabilities and stocks. Christian Haltermann is pleased that “the new interface permits to import merchant files with daily updated information on prices and stocks ten times faster than before.” All functionalities of the formerly separate back-end system for members were migrated directly to the joint central platform by novomind. This included the master data of the HolzLand merchants, which the members can now also manage themselves.
In summary, HolzLand’s marketplace for merchants now offers its members a special service, namely an e-commerce platform that allows them to serve end customers online via their respective merchant shop. The joint central platform for B2C and B2B business has created the technical prerequisites to set up additional B2B merchant shops for professional customers such as trades businesses. HolzLand members will thus be able to access the back-end system of their B2B merchant shop and set individual prices for their professional customers or import them directly via an automated interface.
