This requirement is expected to impact between five and six trillion new products annually. Therefore, setting the technological groundwork early is essential. The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a lifelong digital data record for products. It contains detailed information about a product’s components, materials, reparability, spare parts, and proper disposal. This initiative aims to support the shift towards a true circular economy and is part of the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The goal is to eventually equip nearly all goods with a DPP. By 2030, every physical product marketed in the EU must have a DPP.
