The leading online provider of mountain sports clothing and equipment, Bergzeit GmbH, based in Otterfing (Bavaria), relies on software supported by artificial intelligence (AI) from a single source. The software company novomind AG, headquartered in Hamburg, provides perfectly matched systems for the www.bergzeit.de online shop and Bergzeit’s product information management (PIM) and marketplace connections. While the Cologne-based novomind subsidiary piazza blu² was responsible for the smooth migration and implementation of the systems, the novomind partner Creativestyle realised the front end of the online shop. More than 50,000 products from over 500 brands are available in the web shop of outdoor specialist Bergzeit. novomind iPIM is the central system used for the automated continuous updating, enhancement and translation into five languages of all product data and novomind iMARKET the middleware for the connection to online marketplaces. The novomind iSHOP shop system ensures strong and stable performance of the e-commerce platform. Artificial intelligence helps customers make their choice Personalised product recommendations now help Bergzeit’s approximately 3.75 million customers choose the right products, equipment or accessories from the web shop. If, for example, a jacket, trousers or shoes are sold out in the desired size, similar products are displayed as alternatives during the purchase and selection process. The shop system’s AI recommendation engine uses artificial intelligence to generate these recommendations. It combines search configurations made by the customer with text and image-based product attributes and compares them with the available range at lightning speed. This enables the AI tool to provide real-time suggestions for “best matches” based on the personal requirements of the customer. “Recommendations help customers make a purchase decision. The AI features of the novomind systems guide Bergzeit customers to matching products in the wide range of brands. This further optimises the customer journey. We are delighted to support the automation of processes by the Bergzeit team,” says Markus Rohmeyer, CPO of novomind.
