Multichannel has long been a reality and the foundation for a sustainable course for growth for Media Markt as well as Saturn. Customers can shop using the stationary, online and mobile channels of both electronics specialists that are closely linked to each other. In connection with the strong presence in stationary retail, Saturn and Media Mark are also setting high standards for multichannel retail.
A completely new front end based on current technologies was created for the re-launches of both websites. In doing so, particular value was placed on an excellent user experience. The re-designed user interface automatically adapts to the size of the monitor of the terminal devices, including tablet PC touchscreens. The requirements were technically implemented using HTML 5 and CSS3 in the front end. A new version of the existing CMS system was integrated into the IBM WebSphere Commerce solution for optimised content updating. novomind's service portfolio also includes the corresponding training courses for the new components. 'The agile software development in a geographically separated team had priority in this exciting project. One of the big challenges was harmonising the different locations with each other,' finds Stan Carsten, Member of the Management Board of novomind.
