Hamburg, Germany, February 4th, 2005 –
While traditional mail order providers saw turnover shrink by 3.4 percent last year, online providers’ profits soared, with sales up 36 percent on the previous year. Online retail and service offerings are becoming increasingly important. Since the year 2000, internet turnover has increased almost five-fold. To keep up with recent developments, novomind hosted an expert forum focusing on "Trends in online retail offerings". On January 27th, 2005, 35 representatives from Germany’s top e-commerce providers met in Hamburg to discuss future-oriented solutions designed to optimize online retail.

After presenting the recent market research study, "Customer concerns: Online Shopping" carried out by novomind in collaboration with the F.A.Z. Institute, representatives from OTTO, FACT-Finder, GOOGLE and novomind drew on years of corporate experience to provide participants with an insight into the trends currently affecting e-commerce. Corporate representatives from companies such as Bertelsmann, buecher.de and Deichmann were able to use the forum as an opportunity to exchange and compare experiences with colleagues from across the branch. All those who participated were in favor of setting a date for a second forum next year – three quarters said that the event provided extremely useful and practical insights into current trends affecting their own company.
